BayouRadar Privacy Policy
What we collect, how we use it, and the third-party services BayouRadar relies on to bring you live weather radar.
Effective date: July 2026
Information We Collect
BayouRadar collects only what's needed to run the service:
- Account email and password, for Pro subscribers who create an account
- Saved locations you add for quick access to local radar
- Radar preferences (display settings, selected sites, layer toggles), stored in your browser's localStorage
- Push notification tokens, if you opt in to weather alerts
- Referral codes, if you sign up through an affiliate link
How We Use Information
- Providing live weather data, radar imagery, and severe weather alerts
- Processing Pro subscription payments, via Square
- Sending push notifications for weather alerts you've opted into
- Posting weather awareness content to social media accounts we operate (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram)
- Tracking affiliate program referrals so we can credit and pay affiliates correctly
Data Storage
- Account data is stored in databases on BayouRadar's own servers
- Radar preferences are stored locally in your browser via localStorage — they never leave your device unless you're signed in
- We do not sell your data to third parties
Cookies
BayouRadar uses localStorage (not traditional cookies) to remember your preferences and keep you signed in. We don't use third-party tracking cookies beyond the anonymous, aggregate usage data collected by Google Analytics.
Discord Bot
Bayou Radar Discord, our weather alert bot, only accesses the server ID and channel ID you configure when you set it up. It does not read messages, and it does not access member data.
Push Notifications
Push notifications are opt-in only. You can unsubscribe at any time from within the app or your device's notification settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
